Westlake Vinnolit sponsors equipment for local fencing

En Garde! Prêts? Allez!

The fencing department of SV-Wacker in Burghausen has grown considerably in recent years and is particularly popular with children and young people. To create optimum training conditions, Westlake Vinnolit is supporting the children’s and young people’s training sessions with new bump pads.

Burghausen, 17.4 .2024 – The fencing department of SV-Wacker in Burghausen can look back on 70 years of history. In recent years, the fencers have become very popular, especially with children and young people. As with any sport, good equipment is crucial for fencing. So, there was great joy when Thomas Kufner, Plant Manager of Westlake Vinnolit Burghausen, presented the club with twelve new fencing pads. “Previously, we had to make do with self-made cushions due to the rapidly growing department. These were not ideal training conditions,” reports Ingmar Piglosiewicz, head of the fencing department. The new shock pads are therefore particularly suitable, as there is a rhombus made of PVC synthetic leather sewn onto the middle. “The tip doesn’t slip here and the material is extremely hard-wearing,” explains youth coach Melanie Goldbrunner. “It gives us realistic conditions for impact training with the weapon.”

The department has undergone major changes in the last three years. The club’s old wrestling hall has been converted into a fencing hall with permanently installed lanes thanks to our own efforts and donations. A large selection of rental equipment ensures that everyone can start fencing training without having to buy expensive equipment at the beginning.
