ESG Report

The annual Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) report reports on the sustainability advances and initiatives at Westlake.

Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development

Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development was ratified by the member states of the United Nations in September 2015. The world community thereby set itself 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) for socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development. With our environmental activities, we are making our contribution to these sustainable development goals. Here is a selection:

We operate all of our plants in a safe and environmentally friendly way and avoid contamination of the air, water and ground with chemicals.

Through various water saving programs, we are reducing our water consumption as far as possible, by recycling process water for example. Waste water is cleaned.

We operate our plants in an energy-efficient way and are always looking for optimization opportunities. Westlake Vinnolit’s energy management system is certified under ISO 50001.

In all our production processes, we ensure that chemicals and waste are handled in an environmentally friendly way, minimize emissions and waste and use natural resources responsibly.

We make an active contribution to climate protection through a wide variety of measures that increase energy efficiency and protect the environment.

We participate in the “Operation Clean Sweep” initiative to avoid releasing PVC powder into the environment and thus into the water system by using closed handling and clean working practices.

We are members of the “Naturnahe Alz” association, which supports the Bavarian government in renaturalizing the river Alz. The aim is to strengthen the river’s ecosystem.
